What makes a platformer game good? There is a lot, but one aspect is highly important – the controls. Our approach is to keep the difficulty on challenges, enemies, riddles and so on, so we focused on accurate movements to overcome them. Loads of games make the movement itself part of the challenge – which can be exciting as well – but our idea is to give the player a strong feel of control when moving Oliver through the levels. Our big learning at this point: Putting a lot of time in testing and improving the movements is absolutely necessary – it’s the core of a good gameplay.
